NC Cardinal is a statewide library consortium that connects our library with hundreds of others across North Carolina. Through NC Cardinal, your library card gives you access to millions of items like books, audiobooks, DVDs, and more. Far beyond what is available on our local shelves.
If we don't own the item you are looking for, you can place a hold and have it delivered to our library at no cost. Simply search the shared catalog, place the item on hold, and we'll notify you when it's ready for pickup.

Log In & Manage Your Library Account through the Online Catalog
Your library account makes it easy to manage your library materials anytime, anywhere. You can manage your library account through the online catalog. Once you're logged in, you can place holds, see what you have checked out, create book lists, and track your checkout history.
Log In to Your Account
The first step in managing your library account through our online catalog is to sign in.

Go to the online catalog at https://johnston.nccardinal.org.

Click on the "My Account" button in the top right corner.

Enter your library card number.

Enter your personal identification number (PIN). By default, this is the last four-digits of the phone number associated with your library card in our system.
Search & Place Holds
Can't find what you are looking for at our library? NC Cardinal lets you search millions of items from across participating libraries.

Find the item in the catalog.

Click on the "Place Hold" button.

Choose your pickup location.

Submit your request.
-
You'll receive a notification when your holds are ready.
Manage Your Checkouts
From your account dashboard, you can:

View current checkouts.

See due dates.

Renew eligible items.
Create & Save Lists
