WiFi is available throughout the library for patron use.  Our SSID (network name) is "Library."

Public Computers, Printing, Copying, Faxing, and Scanning

We have 14 Dell PCs in our Public Computer Lab as well as 4 Mac Minis that serve as express computers in the Reference area.  All have access to high speed internet and are available free of charge.

Printing and copying is available at 15¢ per black and white page and 25¢ per color page (letter and legal size; other sizes available for an additional cost).  Scanning is available at a cost of $1.00 per file created.  You must provide your own USB thumb drive or memory card for scanning.  Faxing is also available.  Outgoing faxes are $1.00 per page for in-state and toll-free numbers and $1.50 per page for out-of-state numbers.  You may also receive faxes at a cost of 50¢ per page.  Our fax number is 919-934-8084.

To use our computers, you must:

  • Have a Johnston County library card or show a picture ID.

  • Be at least 10 years of age.

  • Have no outstanding library fines.

  • Agree to the Internet Access Policy.

Younger children may sit with a parent, however, they may not cause a disturbance to the other patrons. All fines must be paid before reserving a PC. The PC reservation system does not allow access to an account with outstanding fines.

Our internet is filtered for pornography, and any attempt to bypass the filter is a violation of the Internet Access policy.

Computer Support

The Reference staff can only give limited support to patrons regarding the use of the computers. We recommend that you bring a USB flash drive to store your files.

Software Access

Each public computer is loaded with Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and more.  No new software may be installed on the PCs. Any attempt to install additional software will be considered a violation of the Internet Access Policy.
