Instructions for downloading eAudiobooks from NetLibrary
***To download eAudioBooks from NetLibrary you must log in with a password and have a NetLibrary account.***
Contact the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield to obtain the password.

Follow this process to download an eAudiobook item. You must be logged into your account. Note: Windows Media Player must be installed on your personal computer. You may click the underlined links in blue to take you to the proper website locations.
- Search for the eAudiobook to download.
- Click on Download this eAudiobook.
- Select the quality (CD or radio) of the eAudiobook you want to download. You are prompted to login if you are not already logged in. Note: Depending on how you play other media files, the media bar might open and begin playing the eAudiobook file. We highly recommend that you do not play the file while it is downloading. The download will take longer and may not download correctly.
- Specify how you want to download (open or save) the file. Download information displays, including information on the download time and system requirements.
- Listen to the eAudiobook file by locating and opening the eAudiobook file the same way you would any other file on your personal computer. Note: You MUST open the eAudiobook file to obtain a license to play the file before disconnecting your Internet connection or you will be prompted to login and obtain a license the first time you attempt to open the eAudiobook file.
Transfer an eAudiobook
Transfer an eAudiobook Using Windows Media Player 9.0
To transfer an eAudiobook file using Windows Media Player version 9.0:
- Find your CD Quality downloaded eAudiobook file and double click it to open it with Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player opens and will obtain the license to allow the eAudiobook file to play.
- Select Copy to CD or Device from the media player's menu options. A list of available titles will be displayed in the Items to Copy frame.
- Select the title you wish to download by clicking on the check box.
- Select a target device from the Items on Device drop-down menu. Click on the copy button to transfer the title.
- Windows Media Player will transfer the file to your portable device. When the transfer is complete, disconnect your portable device and enjoy your eAudiobook. (*Some MP3 players will need to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon (on the taskbar) before removing the USB cable or an error will occur.)
Transfer an eAudiobook Using Windows Media Player 10.0
To transfer an eAudiobook file using Windows Media Player version 10.0:
- Find your CD Quality downloaded eAudiobook file and double click it to open it with Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player opens and will obtain the license to allow the eAudiobook file to play.
- You may stop playback at this point if you choose. Click the 'Library' tab. The media Library will be displayed.
- Find your eAudiobook in the Library Playlist pane, or sort your list by selecting the 'Now Playing' selection.
- Drag the eAudiobook title from the Contents or Details panes in your library to the List pane to add it to the list of items to be synchronized, ensure that your portable device is connected and click the 'Start Sync' button in the List pane. Windows Media Player will transfer the file to your portable device.
- When the transfer is complete, the status field will indicate 'Complete'. You many now disconnect your portable device and enjoy your eAudiobook. (*Some MP3 players will need to use the Safely Remove Hardware icon (on the taskbar) before removing the USB cable or an error will occur.)

Netlibrary Account
An account lets you access your affiliated library's eContent collection from any Internet connected computer 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An account lets you create a list of Favorites, make notes in individual full-text eContent items, and customize your account preferences. There are no membership/annual fees, maintenance costs, or hidden charges associated with your account. Except as noted in our privacy policy, personally-identifiable information will not be disclosed to any third party without the end-user's consent. See Create an Account.
How to create a NetLibrary Account
- Go to www.netLibrary.org on a computer in your affiliated library.
- Click the Create an Account link.
- Enter a username, password, security question and answer, first and last name and email address.

- When creating a username and password you can use any combination of letters, numbers and standard punctuation.
- Usernames are not case sensitive.
- Passwords must be at least six (6) characters long and cannot match your username.
- All usernames and passwords must be unique, so that other users cannot simultaneously login using the same username and password.
- Usernames and passwords should not be shared with others. The creator of the account is ultimately responsible for the activity on that account.
- Record the email address and answer to the Security Question you use for your account. You will need this information is you forget your username and/or password.

Click on Create Account. A message confirming the account has been created displays. You return to your affiliated library home page or to the page where you were prompted to login.
